Kindergarten Blog Ideas

I am having some thoughts about incorporating wikis and blogs in my kindergarten room. I certainly will need adult support, but it may be a doable thing after all. I was thinking of creating a blog for our upcoming plant unit. The students could blog about the planting procedure and document the changes they witness with their own bean seeds.

Another blog thought was given by Sharon and Virginia. My kindergarten students could blog about their fears, questions and concerns about entering the first grade. The first grade students could respond to the blogs and put the kindergarten students at ease. Both of these ideas seem very doable to me.

  1. The idea about blogging about their fears and having the first grade answer the blogs is so great! It doesn't have to be that each student blogs either. It could be that the students tell their ideas to the teacher and the (kindergarten)teacher creates the blog for the first grade teacher to respond to (through a group effort) in his/her class.
I'm really stating to see more uses for this idea!

  2. I think I really like the fear of first grade idea. The whole group idea could work very easily. I will have to get with Virginia and try it out. That could be our blog lesson. You should try it with Kate.

  3. I really like that idea and would love to have our kids give it a try! Maybe I could talk to the second grade teachers too! I smell a lesson plan idea.... :)

  4. I keep thinking how hard it would be to use a blog for K or first grades, you are starting to come up with some great ideas. I found this blog from a first grade teacher. She is using it professionally as a news update, not with students... but it was a start....http://blogs.glnd.k12.va.us/teachers/hwilckens/
Here is the complete list of how Goochland County teachers are using blogs...
